14:4684956Good news to hear that Dover is safe with the closure of 10 other stations, leaving Dover as only one of three 24 hour stations.
Langdon is an amazing place and the work they do is great from up there

Been nice knowing you :)

14:5884959They are also a great bunch of people up there, I have visited a few times in the past to show people the Langdon Battery that the coastguards station is built on top of.
They are always happy to show people around and explain what they do, the last time the arranged a film show of old photographs then let us explore the tunnels.
The stuff that they have experienced up there is also amazing !
Been nice knowing you :)

17:2484970Coastguard, the fourth emergency service, NOT the AA!
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

17:3484974Paul [Scotchie] I totally agree.
Brilliant building , great dedicated staff.
Excellent board room which we occasionally use [with their kind permission].
Tends to have people gazing across the Channel in the boring moments.

you are right about the coastguards but not everyone knows that they can ring 999 and ask for them.

i would imagine that most council meetings are mind numbing, only so often does an interesting item crop up.

18:4184998Surely it can't be worse than telling at a polling station with no voters, Vic.

18:4485001funny that should have arisen, when i turned up after lunch there was a rather frozen looking lady collecting collecting cards.
the door was closed and the heating on, but i would imagine sitting down with nothing much to do for hours on end would make one feel colder.
i did feel sorry for the council staff inside, i bet they were looking at their watches every few minutes.
