  I was lead to understand by my daughter who used to be a manager at the Ashford cinema complex, that the cinema only took 3% of the ticket price, the rest going to the distributors. I used to get free entry to the films, and I would take my own 'refreshment' (water) to save paying the rip off prices. If you're taking your children or grandchildren to a multiplex, treat them to a bag of sweets and a can of drink on the way there, costs you less and the children get a better choice,
