  Peter it is a very long story that goes back before my time and has been made worse over the years by committee members on both sides entering into a slanging match in public.
  
  As I recall originally DCAL was set up as members of the Committee did not agree with the way that things were run, with regard to Child Protection and Insurance etc... However, it is my understanding that both DCA and Dover Town Carnival have evolved from then and cannot comment on the status of these things now.
  
  Dover Town Carnival was set up when DCAL failed to put on a Carnival and the DCAL Court were left without a float etc... nothing to do with DCA at all.
  
  DCA in my memory have always run the Dickens Festival and DCAL and now Dover Town Carnival ran the Carnival.
  
  Recently the two courts have worked well and although at some Carnivals we do both attend, there are Carnivals and Events that DCA do and we dont and vice versa, hence ensuring that Dover has a constant presence.
  
  Dover Town Carnival do not have anything against DCA and a great deal of work has gone into building a relationship with Grace and Louise in particular to ensure that we do not revert to the bad times.
  
  Dover Town Carnival issued a statement wishing them well but letting people know it was them and not us that was running the Carnival in October. We meant them no harm and in fact have probably helped get the word out and advertise their Carnival.
  
  Sorry I cant be more explicit but as I said it all happened a long time ago.
