This is avery good book by Roy Humphreys,First published in the UK in 1993, and in the USA also 1993 alot of Acknowledgements are from Dover, and still about today.
On the first page under the photos,is this.
Ever since the first Roman invasion of Britain,Dover has been the scene of many conflicts.
After the Second World War this part of the country figured more prominently than ever before in the annals of fame. There is no Town in the UK that has had its history wrote more about then Dover, and we in Dover are still making history. I have lived in Dover all my life that is from 1942 till today and I will die here.If you can get hold of this book it makes good reading and photos you will not find in other books about Dover.

Vic's influence goes far and wide Paul.

Yes, it can be difficult sometimes to get hold of it, as it remains a popular book. I eventually managed to get my second copy from ebay. (My first I inherited from my mum and dad.)
