14:2491477along with the ones in folkestone and lydd our ambulance station will close by the end of the year and everything will operate out of a state of the art operation in ashford.
there is a lot of concern over time being lost in the extra journey times, notwithstanding what will happen when operation stack comes into play.

16:1491485Of most concern if the Ambuance has to come from Ashord to return to Ashford (William Harvey)...as you say Howard valuable lost time.
However I note on this weeks DDC Planning Applications (DOV/10/01118) refers to a "Change of Use to Ambulance Response Post". This is on Old Park estate at Whitfield. So will this be our local Ambulance Station.

17:0391490thanks for that pat, i am having problems getting on to the planning website.
response post could actually mean a base for "first responders", which is only a basic service until the ambulance arrives.

Looked at the submitted detail of application.
Interesting that where it states on section 10 (parking) of application it shows "current 2 car spaces" future "1 other (eg bus)".
So assume this will offer the oportunity for one "other vehicle " eg Ambulance. But of course no parking for the staff which on the application shows total staff as 6

08:3191536As far as I am aware and from DDC Scrutiny meetings, Dover will have two ambulance stations with "Made Ready" Ambulances.
The ambulances are all cleaned up (inside and out), refilled with medicines etc. serviced very regularly and ready for the emergency phone call.
Currently all this cleaning and refilling the ambulances etc. is currently done by the paramedics, well when they've attended an accident or whatever and taken the person to hospital, they go back to the "Made Ready" station and pick up a completely made-ready ambulance and go to their site, ready for the next emergency call.
My understanding is that there will be one Ambulance Response Post at the current site off of Folkestone Road and another at Whitfield, so in actual fact, a better service and the Dover area is served better.
The members of the Scrutiny committe went to see the one at Ramsgate (not far from Westwood Cross) and we were all (Labour and Conservatives) very impressed and supportive of this initiative.
Everyone one gave it the thumbs up.

21:3091606Going slightly off topic the Pfizer site would make a wonderful area hospital.

09:3491619The trouble is Jan that QEQM isn't really that far away from that, so it is very unlikely that would be done.
It's a high-tec place now, it would be good if we can keep it that way if possible, not with Pfizers of course but with other companies. Maybe a high-tec college too.
