Actually I do not post a lot, mainly because I am busy doing other things, on any threads.

To make it clear, David Lloyd stood for County as an Independent not an Alliance candidate. I stood for District as an Alliance candidate but not funded or supported by them as a body. There was a change in our rules a few years ago to allow this and as I am, so far, the only one to have followed this through David has probably forgotten it.
Yes we do have meetings, these are required under law as we are a registered party. This step was taken to avoid the confusion at elections caused by others standing as Independent (labour/tory/UKIP or ban-the-whale) candidates. Our rules are strict on Alliance members not being members of other political parties so you will not see Alliance members standing for other parties at any elections. The main point in the Alliance being a party is that, we hope, our name and logo will make it clear that Dover Alliance stands for keeping party politics out of local government. We firmly believe that once members are elected by their wards to represent them in council it is those elected members that should make the decisions, based on the best interests of their electorate and the town not in line with the political interests of their party.
I hope this makes it clear I'm now going back to a good book and a hot coffee.
