In Calais, if you park a UK registered car illegally, they used to put a notice on it in English informing you that 1. you have parked illegally, 2. we have made a note of your number and 3. you are not being penalised this time but 4. if you do it again you will get a ticket which is enforceable in the UK.
Given the number of continental motorists who get tickets in Dover as a result of failing to understand the local rules, I have in the past suggested that DDC should adopt the same policy. But apparently it is illegal here under EU law; I wonder why it is not illegal in France?
