just come across this fascinating piece made even more interesting to read that one of the pilots is still alive and remembers flying one.

Interesttnig video.
As a child in the late 70s I remember helping investigate a crater, overgrown with trees, containing what was beilived to be the remains of a German plane which crashed in a field a few hundred yards East of the present A2, about a mile past the Whitfield roundabout in the direction of Canterbury. There are of course many such craters dotted around farmland locally, increasingly filled in and returned to agriculture. Last time I looked out for it (years ago) it was still there.
Assuming it was indeed plane wreckage - and the bits of shrapnel indicated that was so - it could, like the Goodwins Dornier, be a war grave. I wonder if anyone has ever heard stories of a plane crashing on that spot - unlikely I know as it was such a rural location.
One member of the party claimed to have found a kind of plate - maybe the ID details of the plane? I wish I could get access to it and find out, and if it is what we thought it was, contact the German embassy so that a family can perhaps get closure.

Amazing film on BBC South East News of the plane being lifted out of the water, looked very delicate.

Just been told that a Dornier retrieved from a beach near Boulogne last year will shortly be coming over here to be used as spare parts for the one we have.
