Dogs in hot weather

  A lot of well meaning owners still take their charges out when the Sun is high seemingly forgetting that the pavements are red hot and dogs don't normally wear shoes.
  
  On another point I have been putting bowls of water outside my front gate after being told that dogs get carried away on their run up the hills and by the time they pass down my street on the way home they are struggling. The water disappears very quickly each time but then someone told me that should someone trip over a bowl they could sue me!!

  Don't worry Howard they'll need to climb over the sofa and side step the fridge before they can trip

  It also amazes me too Howard that dog owners do not consider the very valid points you made about walking their dogs in exceptionally hot weather. I'm sure they appreciate you leaving water out for them.
  I suspect the chance of someone injuring themselves by tripping over the bowl is minimal providing it is not left in the middle of the pavement.
  Do nothing and nothing happens.

  Never that simple Bob as the bowl gets kicked out by the first canine and can end up a few doors away after a few licks, messy drinkers they are.
  
  Going away from this particular issue but with a similar problem is snow clearing outside one's house. Most of us do it but the result can be that the damp area left turns slippery and people fall because they expect it to be dry after the snow has been cleared. This issue came up in the days of the Coalition cobbled together Government during a bad Winter and the question was asked about legal responsibility. Various Ministers were wheeled out and told us to use our common sense, alright for those who don't have a stretch of pavement close to their house to pontificate.
