Someone told me yesterday that people should lay their hand flat on the pavement for 5 minutes and if they can't manage it then it is too hot for a dog. I don't see that as dog's paws are much tougher than human hands and besides my cat walks along the path instead of the grass which is much cooler.

Howard, I think the advice was for 5 seconds not 5 minutes as that was roughly the length of time the paw is in contact with the pavement, but I might quite easily be wrong.

5 seconds sounds more logical Jan but I think most dogs would put up with a bit of discomfort rather than missing a walk.
