Does Foreign Intervention Pay Off?

  While the vast majority of the Public opinion at home is contrary to any military involvement on the part of Britain in Syria's war, good news comes from Syria:
  
  A town that had a prewar population of 55,000 people has established a peace accord.
  In Tal Kalakh, hundreds of Syrian rebels there have just surrendered to the Syrian army in return for an amnesty.
  All their weapons have been handed over to the army, and now the tens of thousands of residents who had fled the town as refugees will be able to return home.
  
  However, in nearby Homs, a large city with hundreds of thousands of residents, many of whom displaced by the war, a peace accord between the Syrian army and the rebels is still not possible because many of the rebels entrenched there are not Syrian, but international Jihadis.
  These refuse any peace agreement with the authorities.

  Meanwhile, the Tunisian authorities are bitterly complaining that Tunisian Jihadis fighting in Syria are about to throw Tunisia into turmoil, their actions sponsored by foreign states.
  
  "According to reports by a Tunisian local radio, only in February, 132 Tunisians died in and around the northern city of Aleppo.
  
  Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi announced on May 11, 2013 that some 800 Tunisians were fighting against the Syrian government.
  
  Vice President of the National Constituent Assembly Meherzia Labidi described Tunisia as "a transit point for Tunisian and Foreign militants," saying the security in the North African country is at stake as the al-Qaeda group is trying to train Jihadists on Tunisian soil. "
  
  We may seriously hope that the British Government does not commit to foreign intervention in Syria in any way, including the supply of arms, as armed foreign Jihadi intervention in Syria does not bring peace to the Syrians and is threatening other countries.

  In the meantime, a pro-rebel group in Sidon, Lebanon, supporting the Syrian rebels, has attempted to drag Lebanon into a civil war.

  u.k. intervention in other people's affairs has always left us more disliked than we were before, unfortunately our leaders never learn and still think we are the world power that were in victorian times.

  They will not learn, or perhaps they will.
  
  In Iraq, where Blair intervened, over the past three days there have been an average of 30 people a day killed in bombs and gun attacks. Since April 2013, over 2,000 people killed in Iraq.
  Iraq is next door neighbour of Syria.
  
  Iraqi and Syrian branches of Al Qaeda are arguing in Syria about who is in command there.

  How many hundreds of British passport holders are allowed to travel to Syria and join a terrorist Al Qaeda group that plants bombs in Syrian cities and murders prisoners of war, even civilians?

  But the Government sends British soldiers to Afghanistan, allegedly to fight Al Qaeda, where hundreds of our soldiers have fallen and many others have been wounded.
  
  Is this Government credible?
  Is our national security at risk?

  i would like to think that any british citizen that goes abroad and commits acts of terror would face justice on their return.
  
  the complication happens when deciding what organisations are terrorists and what are freedom fighters - looking back to the thirties some of the pillars of our society went to spain and joined the "international brigade" in a failed attempt to topple the generalissimo.

  These British passport holders join up with Al Nusra in Syria, ally of Iraqi Al Qaeda.
  Both groups are considered terrorist organisations by the USA and Australia.
  Al Nusra plant bombs among civilians in Syria and murder their prisoners, and have been known to murder civilians by shooting them.
  
  Their Iraqi allies with whom they have merged plant bombs in Shiite mosques in Iraq, in market places, in coffee shops...
  
  All known to the British authorities. And the Police?
