John HG, the results in Dover proved to the Nation that UKIP at local level has managed to put the LibDems out of the three main party system, which characterises first of all the media, then the ballot sheet. The many UKIP campaigning leaflets, although limited in nember, no doubt convinced many people not to vote for any of the hitherto 3 main parties.
The leaflets were insufficient to cover all Dover, hence the 3000 votes that went to Labour and the Tories. At this time it does not seem that Labour and the Tories command more than ten per cent of the electorates' votes in Dover!
