I sat with my feet up this afternoon and dozed off, when I woke up one of the flats opposite has stuck a swaztica style flag in his window which is right opposite me. I find it so offensive I have now had to close my central blind so I do not have to look at this travesty. I am not Jewish so I can only imagine what my feelings would be at this time if I was.
I can only guess this moron has stuck it up because of the football.

the swastika has been making a comeback all over europe, we know all about it being flaunted openly in eastern europe but more recently in greece and italy.
it may just be put there for a joke though.

It was flaunted at St Edmund's School last week, one of the funniest evenings out we've had for ages.

Of course, highlight of the show - if you don't count the old ladies doing a song and dance routine with zimmer frames!
Although almost forgot the chorus line of dancing pigeons.

Jan if you feel upset by this you should report it, don't let them get away with it. The type of people that put these symbols up have very little understanding Of history, they probably don't even know the origins of it! I share your disgust, there is no excuse.
The offence is created by section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986:
"(1) A person is guilty of an offence if he:
(a) uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or disorderly behaviour, or
(b) displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting,
within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby."
This offence has the following statutory defences:
(a) The defendant had no reason to believe that there was any person within hearing or sight who was likely to be alarmed or distressed by his action.
(b) The defendant was in a dwelling and had no reason to believe that his behaviour would be seen or heard by any person outside any dwelling.
(c) The conduct was reasonable.

the origin goes back about 3000 years and is an integral part of hinduism and buddhism, not having seen the one jan mentions i don't know the reason for displaying this one.
the national socialist party in germany adopted it as we know and has not been used officially much since.
