  It is SO difficult when you have someone who is a keen helper/volunteer in any organisation,I know of one in the Dover area who has worked hard for years, but is now losing her short term memory and doing unexpected things like clearing away tables when they don't need clearing, etc. An old uncle of mine played the organ in church for years and years until, aged 90, his daughter had to calmly tell him he was missing the right notes, it did upset him of course, but what is the alternative? sometimes.
