Have just conducted a rescan on my digital TV and now have 75 TV channels and 24 radio channels. This is from the Dover transmitter which is the main area transmitter at Hougham. With the analogue signals switched off, the digital transmissions have been greatly increased in number and all boosted to full power so this should see an end to the reception problems in the past. They were kept down to around 2,000W until now so as not to interfere with the analogue transmissions but have now been boosted to 80,000W, commercial multiplexes somewhat less but still a very substantial 40,000W. PaulB: Your aerial at the high end of the Gateway flats is pointing at Hougham so all your problems should be over.

The Dover Town relay on the top of the hill at Buckland serves all those premises shielded by the Western Heights and unfortunately will only be broadcasting a much more limited selection of channels - 16 standard TV, 5 HD TV, 11 radio. The radiated power will also be increased on these now that the analogue transmissions have ceased.

All the digital multiplexes are being broadcast by both transmitters in the same part of the UHF TV band as the analogue transmissions used to be so the existing TV aerials on each house do not need to be changed and reception will be immensely better now that the power has been boosted.
