On post 1 you ask if there was a Dieppe/Dover Service.
I have checked records back to the origin of the route 1847..It being eventually a jointly owned service between London Brighton South Coast Railways and Region Ouest of France eventually being BR/SNCF. It was not a pooled service but joint with British having one third and French two thirds share.
The only time the route did not operate an advertised service was in WW1 when it operated from Folkestone (being a Railway owned port) to Dieppe.
On several occasions due to emergencies it operated to Portsmouth or Folkestone.
A French Company Schifino (Freight Only) who normally operated a sevice from Dieppe to Shoreham ran a freight service from Dieppe to Dover Eastern Docks but this did not last very long, a similar situation as with LD Lines.
Hope this helps
