Broadstairs bath house:
Charles Dickens, a friend of the Cramptons in Broadstairs, wrote to his daughters in 1859 saying that the sea being too cold he found solace in the warm showers at the Crampton Bath House.
"My relatives, CRAMPTONS, lived in Broadstairs and I am lead to believe that John and Mary CRAMPTON lived in Prospect Cottage, Dickens Walk, Broadstairs and listed in the 1831 Town Directory as a plumber and architect, managed or owned the Vapour and Medicated Baths in Eldon Place, Broadstairs, which they ran for many years."
(info from a member of the Crampton family)
