An odd choice indeed. One can understand for example the non-economic Alan Johnson as Shadow Chancellor as it has one eye on populism but this choice is bewildering. Here we have one of the most unpopular women about..even though Guzzler likes her in his post above.
She finished last in the Leadership contest. Hugely last. Then she could not muster enough votes from her fellow Labourites to be voted onto the original shadow cabinet grouping...all this despite regular tv appearances on This Week and so on. Where she had for years the awful knack of looking at the ceiling while speaking. Strewth! I kept trying to see what she found so intriguing on the ceiling! So in essence she isnt a good tv performer.
I dont get it...it cant be the bolster up the female content of the Shadow group because Labour proudly has a great group of women.
So there we are...an odd choice.
