Such a shame as was such a nice venue with great facilities, however due to a Extreamly arrogant and rude staff member and forever changing bar charges I'm not surprised

Unfortunately this is true, in fact the business no longer holds any financial or legal links to Dover Harbour Board any more. I think it must relate to a mis management as the business was always healthily used.

Surely it's still on DHB land and therefore liable for large amounts of rent? I always found the place a bit sterile, lacking atmosphere, and the location is not ideal.

Apparently someone is interested in taking it over.
Plus the Gateway bowls club are also looking to continue separately.

The chap who runs Dover, Folkestone & Deal Rock and Roll club had a phone call on Wednesday morning to say that the club was closing. His last club night is next Wednsday, then he needs to finds a new venue...
