Years ago when I was doing Civil Engineering at Manchester Uni in the early seventies I can remember physical models of estuaries and suchlike to look at the effects of quays/jetties etc being built, on current/wave height etc.

In the past half century with the advent of computer modelling the science has come on in leaps and bounds and whatever DHB say this whole fiasco can only be laid at the door of the totally incompetent design team.

Fluid mechanics/dynamics is NOT an easy subject BUT we have the technology (and have had it for years) and building a marina within a harbour is hardly at the cutting edge of marine civil engineering.

Pay peanuts. Get monkeys. Should have gone for Arup!
