DAILY FRANCE-LONDON COACH SERVICE LAUNCHES TO HELP FRENCH SOAK UP LONDON ATMOSPHERE

Service fully booked and an additional date added. Picture shows the coach in Dover this morning.

A special coach service has been organised by Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque to help French spectators soak up the atmosphere of this summer's events and celebrations in London. The service, which transfers spectators between Dunkirk and Dover, is being run in association with the Dunkirk Tourism and DFDS Seaways.

With air and train travel into the capital expected to be over-crowded and highly stressful, the special service bridges France and Northern Europe to London. It means spectators can board the coach in Dunkirk, sail across the English Channel with DFDS Seaways, and have a stress-free transfer direct to London.

The service has been met with resounding demand, with all places fully booked to the end of the schedule. An additional day has also been added in direct response to the overwhelming demand from passengers seeking to be part of the celebrations.

Tickets include access to the Club France enclosure, which as a favourite of many French athletes gives spectators the chance to really experience an amazing sporting atmosphere for themselves. Spectators can also visit the many free cultural and sporting events taking place in London over the next few weeks.

Spectators will be able to travel into central London using travel cards, which are included in the coach ticket price, with the service running between the 27th July and the 12th August. A return trip costs 55 € for an adult and 49 € for children under the age of 15, and can be booked via the Dunkirk Tourism Office (Telephone: 00 33 3 28 66 79 21).

Chris Newey, Passenger Director, DFDS Seaways English Channel, said, "With the world's spotlight on London this summer, we wanted to support the initiatives being undertaken by the Dunkirk Tourism Office and the Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque to offer a park and ride coach service from Dunkirk to London. It is a great way to help people come to London to experience the atmosphere of the current special sporting celebrations."

Sabine L'Hermet, Director of Dunkirk Tourism, said, "DFDS Seaways has bridged the gap between France and London, making it possible for lots of spectators to visit the greatest sporting event in the world. With its fast and reliable service from Dunkirk to Dover, DFDS Seaways takes the stress out of travelling."

The special service is being run in association with Dunkirk Tourism and Communauté Urbaine of Dunkerque via the organisation committee, le Plus Grand Terrain de Jeux, and will run until 12th August.

DFDS Seaways operates up to 44 daily sailings from Dover to France. For more information visit www.dfdsseaways.co.uk.
