I find it very sad that the whole obsession has become about Burlington House rather than about what this development as a whole means for the town. A massive carpark, a wall to discourage visitors and a green area that could be a market but will be used for extra parking. The fifteen shops are not on a bus route which means those occupied will be used by out of town shoppers (possibly) causing more traffic on our busiest road. Of course the plans do show some lovely trees in amongst the parking but does anyone really believe any of them will survive to maturity? Even what is left of St. James Street will be reduced to a route through the carpark.
