As we all know, there was a public uproar earlier this year, which didn't spare the Forum, and was heard all over the national media.
The bankers and their bonuses.
Sky News reports:
"Employees are being told 'Your job is your bonus so don't expect a large sum in addition'."
Although some were telling us to keep our nose out of it, not to interfere, we bravely fought on, and the uproar reached high levels.
Sky:
"Bank bonuses are set to fall to levels last seen 15 years ago as City rewards start "coming back into the real world", it has been claimed."
As we know, an elite of people in financial chair positions (executives), were demanding all the pies, and demanding them NOW!
Sky says:
"The amount paid out in bonuses fell to £4.4bn in 2011/12, less than half the peak of £11.6bn before the financial crisis and the lowest for eight years, according to economics consultancy Cebr."
It gets better:
Sky:
"And it forecast a further 48% fall to £2.3bn in the current year, putting pay-outs back to levels last seen in 1998."
As we can see from the following lines, many people employed in the financial sector have themselves hit the sour grape. In fact, do we all remember the assurances that these people would "up and go" to some other country and immediately receive a wopping job offer in some bank if we dared challenge their bonuses?
Well instead, many of them have up and gone to more humble reality:
Sky:
"The reduction reflects the collapse in City activity and the sharp fall in financial jobs, which now means that bonuses are "the exception, not the rule".
Cebr chief executive Douglas McWilliams said: "City remuneration levels are coming back into the real world."
In fact. bankers are more likely to lose their job altogether, rather than "go abroad and get employed as a banker for a higher bonus".
Humble pie!
