I feel very sorry for the residents of Deal and in particular seniors who need outpatients appointments close to home. To be honest I am not at all surprised. Having attended many meetings about facilities in Dover and the Hospital consultations etc one often leaves a meeting feeling it was all a PR stunt. Now I can speak from experience having 2 parents in their 80s with different health problems. My diary would make a brilliant TV documentary about the lack of co-ordination over appointments etc. The past 2 days are one example. Yesterday Dad to Kent and Canterbury at 12 noon and Buckland Warfarin Clinic at 2:15.
(without a car how could anyone do that?). Today back to Kent and Canterbury with Mum at 11:00hrs.
Throw in 5 Ambulance calls during the night over the past 6 weeks( the paramedics are wonderful) which resulted in 4 A&E trips to Kent and Canterbury and I trip to William Harvey. How do people without their own transport cope with that.
Its no wonder Dover is falling apart whilst so many are spending hard cash on travel to get to these appointments. If its spent on petrol it cant be spent in local shops.
