The latest land grab around Deal, every bit of spare land in and around there seems to either have a development or planning application but what happened to the Whitfield expansion. Were we not suppose to have 10,000 new homes there by now?

I somehow doubt the following going by recent history.
"Mr Quinn said it would offer a “complete mix” of properties, including family homes, flats, retirement living, “a significant amount of affordable housing”, part ownership and homes available for social rent."
Who would create the following?
"A new primary and secondary school, nurseries, a doctors’ surgery and pharmacy would be created, together with restaurants, pubs and shops, both independent and high street.

Would have thought Hadlow college had enough on their plate already.
"Hadlow College, which has ploughed £40m into the Betteshanger Park redevelopment, is also collaborating with Quinn Estates and is in the brochure. Its principal Mark Lumsdon-Taylor left the company last month amid a probe by regulators into the colleges finances. However, in the brochure, he said: “We share the belief that the strategic relief road and new settlements will bring a prosperous future for Deal.” Hadlow declined the opportunity to comment."

The site is nearly in Eastry and near to Sandwich, nothing to do with Deal really.

Think the Deal boundary was increased to encapsulate this area when they were talking about Betteshanger being part of an enterprise zone but regardless sooner or later all these parishes will be merged into the urban area. Same thing happened in Ashford.

What's the betting he gets the go ahead some time in the future? He has openly admitted to contributing to party funds in areas the company has developed and certainly knows how to offer sweeteners to groups in need of funds.

I think this daft idea will take a lot more than sweeteners to get anywhere, I certainly hope it fails.
This proposed site is not the edge of a village this is pure countryside with only a few scattered buildings, if it were to go ahead it would completely ruin that beautiful area.

After the Farthingloe debacle, were it ever to come to pass this would surely be the final proof that DDC, in its current incarnation, is incapable of objective and unpressured decisions in the planning process.
Don't these people realise that, once lost, these beautiful areas can never be brought back?
A mate and I regularly walk in that area. Please excuse the plug but take a look at our website which details so many beautiful aspects about walking in the East Kent countryside -

This isn't an advert. The site is deliberately free from any monetisation. It just might convey something of the value that some of us put on our delightful surroundings.

Quinn Estates has scrapped its plans to build 3,750 new homes around Northbourne.
Instead, the Kent based firm has said it will shift its attention to a significantly smaller and more sustainable development around Betteshanger Country Park. ray hutstone, Button, Jan Higgins and

Where does that leave Charlie's ambition of a link road to north Deal from the A256?

Excellent!
I hope that new plan is also dropped, why cant they find a more suitable site in or a lot nearer to an existing built up area.

Good decision.Too many green fields are being covered in concrete. It doesn’t help the climate.Grow more vegetables etc instead if importing .Pay the farmers a decent Return. This country needs to return to making more goods .What happened to England’s green and pleasant land?..

The CPRE campaign to protect it, Sue. Yet our MP never misses an opportunity to vilify them.
