    I now know a bit more of what has happened.
    The groins have not gone, they have been filled in, sand was used to back fill the beach around the groin area to raise the beach to required height and the pebble were replaced, back on top of the sand.
    The pebbles were then washed away by the first easterly gale that we had last week.
