Local government is a complicated business, very much based on trust. The role of an officer is to provide acurate information to a group of councillors, who stem from a wide variety of life / work experience, without influencing the decision making process. As you can imagine this leads to all kinds of problems. As a Councillor, have you been given all the facts, including the restrictions, options and possible outcomes? As an Officer have you given an unbiased report, one that will not be used as a political weapon.
I cannot stress just how important your vote is when selecting your Councillor, after all you are asking them to represent you and they will be doing a job which will result in difficult desicion making and one which 90% of the population would rather not do!
