Sue, I am old enough to remember Dover high street in the 70's on a Saturday. The whole place would be buzzing with people and many from Deal, Sandwich and even Folkestone. Transport links were plentiful and cheap and parking was mostly free. Not like nowadays where you don't even consider getting a bus until checking which services have been cancelled and a train ticket requires a bank loan. I never understood why the planners of St James didn't factor in shuttle buses from the other urban areas. It feels like DDC just pigeon hole each town rather than have a joined up approach.

Westwood Cross have done very well on the back of this with their new dual carriageways and free parking.
