TACKLING NOISE ISSUES - A 'RUFF' GUIDE TO PROBLEMS CAUSED BY BARKING CANINES
A 'ruff' guide to problems caused by barking canines will be coming to Dover on Tuesday 19 May, from 1pm to 4pm, as part of a joint initiative with Dover District Council and Shepway District Council to mark Noise Awareness Week.
Members of Dover District Council's Environmental Health team will be at the pedestrian precinct to explain how barking dogs can affect neighbours. Complaints about barking dogs contribute significantly to noise complaints made to the Council. Canine behaviourist Pippa Ducat will be on hand with advice and help on how to keep dogs happy, and quiet. There will also be an opportunity for dog owners to have their pets micro-chipped for just £10.99 by a local kennel, and Dog Wardens will be there to offer advice about other aspects of responsible dog ownership.

the majority of dog owners behave responsibly, feeding, watering and exercising their mutts.
keeping them under reasonable control in public places.
the rest will not take any notice.

Its impossible dealing with them. I see some neighbours put up those wind swirly things you get at funfairs...no good, the pigeons sit underneath them. I tried the silver discs as mentioned by Jeane before and they are sitting underneath them...all the time making that coo coo noise. Grrrrrrrrrr!!

The dog thing doesnt seem to be being taken too seriously even by the DDC themselves..as the "Ruff" thing is their wording not mine. But I suppose you can get some advice on canines generally and have your dog microchipped etc. But Ian is probably right..the people that need to go wont go. I suppose you could try some discreet netting but not too sure where you could buy it.
Maybe a cat or a German cross breed snarling South African ridgeback on a rope..only problem with that is you would need to switch to drinking Tennants Homeless Export and drink it al fresco in Pencester with other like minded dog lovers.
But just think what a fashion statement you'd be making.....lolMarek

We always pick up after our dogs, as do many of the other dog owners we know, but I have seen many who don't bother. These are likely the same ones who let their dogs run riot, undisciplined, etc, and they are not going to give a hoot about this event.
