Uncanny or what? less than 24 hours after I posted my thoughts on David Miliband return to politics on Barrys Blog page' his never delivered or heard 'acceptance speech' as Leader of the Labour Party is published in full in todays newspapers.
Is this paving the way for his return? Well you read it first here on the DF..lol

There is a lot of manouvering at the moment Marek. Revelations are appearing daily in the papers. Everyone employing the sly use of tactical leaking as doubts are beginning to appear as the whether young Ed is cutting the mustard.
The leaders role has changed. If you want to make progress you have to have a polished slick guy who gets listened to in the mass media age. I know Keef doesnt agree with this thinking and still prefers cloth capped lefties...thats not good now, you will never win an election that way. And its all about winning.
You have to market your product.

PAULB;
All i have said is, should we be led by the media?????
They tell us
What we should wear
who we should meet
what we should eat
what expensive gadgets we must have
plus much much more,
My feelings are(as iv indicated before) Ed cant come forward to early and blow his chances of being rid of this cobbled together govt.
Ed is doing ok, slowly re building, for me dave milliband would be a welcome addition.
If i was asked do i want some timid trade union official to represent or bob crow i know my choice.
And having been with Bob over the years he is a very talented negotiater.
We are in a climate at the moment where most people have switched off of politics and little is being done to re engage with the public.
The dangers are that all politicins are untrusted and looked upon as all being the same..
We have a mountain to climb to bring society back to one that doesnt fear for;
its life
hold a job
howto pay bills
we do need urgent change,

the media has to be manipulated to gain power.
we all remember the sun years ago with the headline "it was us wot won it".

HOWARD;
Sadly you are correct,
but should that be the case?
the same national did niel kinnock with the headline summat like
will the last person out turn the light out.
that said kinnock didnt help himself.
never understood him, he took on and beat the militant party operating within the labour party at the time, and his famous SHIFFIELD RALLY where he got all the TV celebrities together, i said to labour people and others that has just cost the labour party the general election.
sadly that time i was right.

i think kinnock was badly advised keith.
i remember cringing at the pictures from that rally, so triumphalist they thoroughly deserved to lose.
they have learned lessons now that are unlikely to be repeated.

Marek i hope you are right it would be a same if David Miliband stayed in the back ground, Ed maybe as Keith has said doing alright but with the Media set to jump on every turn you can not aford to hang around.
David would be a good ali to have in your corner.

JAN;
It's my opinion that ED is doing ok.
can't open up to soon, no point, like other oppositio parties
the tories in opposition held off till close to the election no different.
Labour time to re build and doing so
we need an alternative to this lot

Keith, Ed is doing far from OK. He is "projecting" ( a bit of a strong word for his presence) a pallid and limp veneer and has made little or no impact. So wet he would need rinse and spin on full power to drain away the dampness, he drips around the edges of the political scene leaving little puddles of contempt. A serious but unsurprising disappointment.

Bland is the word I would use for Ed. I am not sure if that is good or bad after the last couple of leaders, one who reminded me of a double glazing salesman and the other as miserable as hell.

I remember hearing Tony Blair on the radio before their first election success - I came late to the broadcast and didn't know who he was, and thought he sounded like an insurance salesman!!! I was shocked to find out he was the prospective PM.........
