If
'ban
' and '
suspend
' are interchangeable terms there may be hope for David, and others, yet.
I suppose that being aware of the fact that we all here are hanging by a thread, and that we each have a grip upon one handle of the scissors used to 'free' us from the forum, may take some of the
sting
out of the process/realisation.
Nevertheless, I cannot conjure-up a reason for there being no difference between
ban
and
suspend
.
If there were to be a 'three strikes and your out', and if the
out
was known to be long term or permanent, this would help.
One distinct advantage of short-term-suspension is that the miscreant could formulate an apologia (more explanation than mea-culpa). This could help cement the group together.
Whatever! I hereby
ban
myself from further comment. It is Christmas and the Port is 'saved'. There is much to rejoice about.
