He was guilty of being behind two of the best comedies ever made, It Ain't Half Hot Mum and Dad's Army which I still laugh at even though I have seen the episodes umpteen times.
RIP

How terribly sad. Are You Being Served?, Allo Allo, Dad's Army, It Ain't Half Hot Mum - some of the very best of British comedy containing some of the funniest comedy characters over twenty years. He leaves behind a fine body of work. RIP.
