Darenth valley hospital // pfizers
- 12 May 2011 12:11105869as siad many times if pfizers cannot be saved , the site should be hospital , we have the car park there
saying it again on the day that darenth valley hospital , which opened 10 years ago is now at capacity for car parking ( reports of vistors spending an hour looking for car park space ) so will this have a ripple effect meaning the overflow form here will go to medway hospital , overflow from here to william harvey etc
good we are getting the new hospital in dover , but in 10 years time whitfield and ashford will grow by 1000,s of extra houses and where will the overflow go then ? - 12 May 2011 12:30105881cannot see that happening.
1) there is no money in the kitty.
2) the site is too close to the q.e.q.m.

i forget to put in first post that at north kent the plan was to build loads of houses at ebsfleet ,
if this is ever given the green light what hospital would they use

you cannot go to to the nearest , but we will find one about 5 miles away for you - 13 May 2011 12:05106048Ron, although I have nothing against the idea of more hospitals being built and operated, we have to bear in mind that the NHS must be financed, as private clinics are also financed.
To pay for hospitals and doctors and nurses, and medicines, we need a productive economy. Hence, to close down such an important site as Pfizer and not replace it with one similar or equivalent, that produces for the local/world economy and reaps in salaries for the workers (who pay tax to NHS etc.) and brings in some aditional profit margin, would be a mistake.
In fact, by not keeping up a productive economy, we wouldn't even be able to keep the present hospitals running, let alone build new ones!

a) a hospital on that site will not be built as the NHS has no spare money and government has made it clear it will not spend its way out of the crisis
