Ron, although I have nothing against the idea of more hospitals being built and operated, we have to bear in mind that the NHS must be financed, as private clinics are also financed.
To pay for hospitals and doctors and nurses, and medicines, we need a productive economy. Hence, to close down such an important site as Pfizer and not replace it with one similar or equivalent, that produces for the local/world economy and reaps in salaries for the workers (who pay tax to NHS etc.) and brings in some aditional profit margin, would be a mistake.
In fact, by not keeping up a productive economy, we wouldn't even be able to keep the present hospitals running, let alone build new ones!
