The main "pedestrianised" bit of Dover is puddle central when it rains. That's gonna take a lot of evening out. I often wonder: Why do towns spend fortunes on this parquet/mosaic brickwork paving stuff, when paving slabs would surely be way cheaper and much more practical in terms of initial & maintenance costs? They always seem to end up puddly those brickworked floors.

I put pedestrianised in quotes because it is so woefully unenforced. I'm not sure of the precise rules but isn't it meant to be no vehicles "at any time & loading only between 4pm and 8am" or something vaguely similar.

I can remember working in Dixons in the Christmas of '84 and having to phone the local police station to get clearance for customers vehicles for bulky purchases.

Plenty of people seem to take absolutely no notice. By-laws are obviously just for other people.
