But I don't believe using a pseudonym is the same as pretending to be someone else?
The second point you've picked out from the Terms of Service (don't try to disguise who you are) refers specifically to not forging headers or manipulating identifiers - it's to do with the technical side of disguising the computer/location you are posting from, nothing to do with usernames. Perhaps that short summary is badly worded, but the rules are quite clear if you read the full version.
