Another classic tv series to be turned into a film, not sure it's a good idea.
Quite a strong cast though.

The casting looks superb, big fan of the programme and surprisingly so is my 9 year old grandson.

Television sitcoms rarely transfer successfully to the big screen, hopefully this will buck the trend. Must have seen every episode a dozen times over the years and still laugh at the characterisations.

As you say a good cast but they will never be Dad's Army as we know it. Toby Jones should make a good Captain Mainwaring, but I have my doubts about the others.
Different actors and writer mean it simply will not be the same to those of us who still enjoy the repeats of the original series.

I think the time gap is so long now that we will be pleasantly surprised with the film when it comes out, I was very sceptical about the recent drama Cilla but enjoyed every minute of it.

I just wish they had not used the Dad's Army title they could use the format but give us new characters.
Cilla was excellent and much better than I expected mainly down to Sheridan Smith's brilliant performance, I even preferred her singing to Cilla's.

Bill Nighy should be perfect for the Sergeant Wilson role but anyone stepping into Arthur Lowe's role has their work cut out.

These people are top actors, they will relish the opportunity to play such iconic characters.
