Cycle race
- 24 June 2011 15:05111699seemed to be some sort of race going on all the cyclists had numbera on the front and were well spread out along the folkestone road.
- 24 June 2011 15:19111701Howard its the annual London to Paris cycle event. Held every year and they always take a breather here in Dover. I remember photographing Gwyn at it a couple of years back as he met the cyclists arriving. Right now they are gathered in the carpark of the Premier Inn will get a picture in a minute...

Wonder if Linda Hannent is out there pedalling away..she did the London to Brighton again this year and this would be right up her street, although it may be a bit soon after the other one.email: dover7@msn.com - 24 June 2011 15:45111703Rather extraordinary I took the above picture a few minutes ago...I go back out now to have a further buchers and everything has gone...all in a matter of minutes all the cycle racks trucks stalls etc. Like they were never there...talk about a moonlight flit. Extraordinary...Ive seen some quick departures but....
email: dover7@msn.com - 24 June 2011 19:56111756I'm still in Dover (would love to do London to Paris one day) - yes did the London to Brighton again last Sunday. Harder this year because of the rain and wind but as last year the sun came out when we got to Brighton. A real family affair for me - I did the ride with one of my sisters, brother-in-law, two nieces and two nephews. Our support team consisted of David and another nephew - they kindly drove us to London for 7.30am and collected us from Brighton in the afternoon. It is a fantastic day, really friendly atmosphere all along the route, superbly organised by the British Heart Foundation - 28,000 people took part and they hoped to raise £3.7 million!
On Monday I signed up for the first BHF London to Brighton, night ride in May 2012 - leave at 1am and get to Brighton for breakfast! I can't wait. In the meantime I will be doing the Viking Trail in October.

I want to see you out in your lycra for the London-Paris next. No stopping you now.
Speaking of that event, here's a picture from a couple of years ago which shows the cyclists being met by Gwyn under the shadow of the Castle. No sign of the MP this time, the location was different too.
