we could all see this coming, the question is where the axe will fall.
at the bottom of the article ddc is asking what services we can take over as a community, we have a head start with the connaught park urban guerillas.

the article states that job cuts are inevitable, keith mentions printing stuff in different languages - i always wonder who pays for the translators stationed in g.p. surgeries.

Unnecessary fact finding trips when a conference call would do.
More natural wastage rather than redundancy.
Really deep thought before more new outside high paid staff are employed, internal promotion might be cheaper.
Lastly turn the heating down a couple of degrees like we are always being told to do with our homes.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

The cuts must be biting the council's renewable energy sensibilities as the big windmill at Honeywood towers hasn't moved for the past four or five months. The maintenance budget must have been diverted to another cause.
Mind you it's not alone in not moving if you take a look at this live update for the amount of energy produced in the UK

I may be wrong, but is it not a fact that hospitality has followed council meetings?
Do some council employees get privet medical perks?
And cars to some employees as a wage package
I think we should sack to get back to £600 a year tax.
All employees should be on 6 months rolling contracts, and there jobs be up for wage comparison with the privet sector
Example , if we have 20 sectaries claiming benefits in the job shops willing to do the job cheaper, they should be given the chance, at doing them jobs ,in the interest of the taxpayers
If you think this hard on public sector workers ,you should remember the people struggling to pay these tax bill ,
we don't have a printing machine like the back of England , the pots empty and you need to wakeup and smell the coffee
Me and millions like me work under these sort of contract all the time, nobody give us nothing
I get out bid or charge too much I get the pump; I get sick I get the pump.
And you should to.

Don't forget Keith that only a small proportion of the council tax goes to DDC - so no matter how much you want to 'sack people at DDC' you won't get to £600 !!!
£931.36 KCC
£146.16 DDC
£123.27 Kent Police
£60.40 Kent Fire
Total £1261.19
As I said on another thread for a normal householder (ignoring business rates) you are paying £2.80 a week to have your bins collection which will probably cost most people that do drive to Whitfield to do it yourself... doesn't sound bad to me ?
Been nice knowing you :)
