Folllowing all the confusion on Passport Control at the Port, can anyone ‘in the know’ say what current requirements are.? Grateful for the info.

I wasn't aware that there has been issues, though I no longer work in Dover.
What has been happening?

To make the request clearer .
?Do you need any other documentation than an up to date passport to get past passport control.
Thank you.

Going somewhere nice?
What I have found interesting travelling around USA it appears you don't need a passport , birth certificate will do, that is until you travel outside USA.
Border force, customs more active on way back !
The nothing to declare rarely see people stopped
This time quite a number were .
You may want to check if passport to where your going has to have over a year left on it before you travel .
Depending where your going you may want to see if that country has any other restrictions .
Better to find out early lol

I have to admit I find this thread confusing
Why would anyone need even a birth certificate to travel inside the USA? Would this be an ID requirement for flights?
I don't understand why there has been confusion at Port of Dover. Surely you just need a valid passport, until the ETIAS scheme comes in, if you are British?

The are, of course, different requirements now in respect of travel, health and car insurance but I doubt that they are checked at the French border.

One additional bit of detail, Paul - your passport must have three months or more validity when entering the EU, and cannot be more than 10 years old. I think the latter may be something new and has caught a few people out.
As others have said, that's the current arrangement.
