While walking to the seafront today i noticed that the Crypt memorial plaque has been taken from the wall of the underpass.I,m sure it was there a couple of weeks back when i last went that way.Hope it hasnt been nicked by scrap thieves, was only a thin sheet of brass so wouldnt have much value.Anyone know where its gone?

I did think it needed a clean last time i saw it but that could have easily been done where it was with a bit of Brasso.Terrible shame if its been nicked.

According to FB, quoting G Wanstall of DTC, it's away for renovation, due back mid-January.

I hope that is the whole truth from DTC. I remember similar was said about some benches that were being renovated never to be seen for ages and their return was only due to outside pressure.

It was at Graham's initiative that the Crypt memorial plaque was installed in the first place. If #4 is correct, I'd expect it to be returned to its original location.

We can hope that one day the neglect of the site of the restaurant will be righted.
Perhaps when the Godden building next door is knocked down? (if that still is the plan?)

It will be back early January
Not connected with Dover Town Council (thankfully)
Graham Wanstall paid for it
And he said it's in desperate need of a clean
But it will be back very soon
