Cross-Channel rowing attempt?

  Three rowing boats just heading out of the western entrance of the harbour now. Looks like some sort of cross-Channel race attempt. How comes there never seems to be any publicity about this sort of thing, and hence no one to see it? This is something unique to Dover. Likewise, hardly seen any coverage this year of those who have swam the Channel.

  we never hear of any channel crossings in advance, sometimes the first we know is when it reaches national t.v.
  
  surely one of the channel swimming groups could keep people informed?

  Perhaps this is only a trial run. I gather that support craft are an essential part of any such feat, see link '2'...

  Here you go, have a look at this link. It will give you an idea of what the rows are about.
  We at Dover Marine Services supply the pilot boats for the rows which generally take place on Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon. When of course the weather allows. Anything more than a F2 means the rows are rescheduled
