they come and go, the 8 in clarendon field are being moved this morning - 4 already in the truck when i arrived with these 4 surprisingly eager to go. 6 konik ponies presently in maxton field will replace them.

i was told that they were unwilling to go, some classic cases of digging their heels in were on show today.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

A great couple of people, both dedicated to the work they do.
I met them both a few weeks ago following a phone call from a local resident concerned about the safety of youngsters up on the heights if the animals get spooked by stupid people; he was asking if it is really necessary for them (the Konig ponies and Dexter cattle) to graze there.
Melane sent me a very good letter about the aninmals, the grazing and many other aspects of the Heights that I then copied and sent to the resident - I haven't heard from him since, so I guess he was happy with what Melanie has said.
Melanie and Paul and all the others that help on the Heights - volunteers of WHPS and WCCP, should have a special Thank You or a Mayor's Civic Award - even though they never ask for it.

i remember that kerfuffle roger, clarendon field is massive so there is no need for anyone to get close to them if they are nervous.
dog walkers can be the biggest pain letting there charges off the lead near the animals, only natural for a dog to run up and bark.

Responsible dog owners will always be sympathetic to other animals, although unfortunately, there will always be the few who are not
Paul and Mel certainly do a fantastic job

a good time to mention that volunteers are still wanted, you don't to be physically fit and active - help in the office is always welcomed.
just ring 01304 241806 and have a chat.

When I was up on the Heights, one of the volunteers told me that you don't have to be fit to start being a volunteer, as it will make you fit.

here we have some renegades known as the smb 3, despite efforts to move them to another field they have dug their hooves in and stayed put.

brian
i emailed paul sampson of wccp after your phonecall, the 11 dexters were transferred to st david's field this afternoon so that they are as far away from humans as possible during half term and the firework season.
paul has asked me to pass on his thanks for reporting what you saw.

the wise heads of w.c.c.p have now hatched a cunning plant to deal with the 3 recidivists, bring them some tasty comestibles, leave it all near the gate so that they get used to it being there - then when they are at their most trusting pounce and load them into a truck.

brian took these from his far flung corner of our town, would like to see who is going to push these into a truck when it is their time to be moved.
