Yes he was indeed very popular once upon a time. I remember that "I Remember You" song very well. It was a big number one as I remember and he did some yodelling in it. I remmber I had never heard someone yodelling before I had to ask my mother what sort of an affliction it was. I was young..she explained that the Swiss do it. Ive been going to Switzerland ever since but never heard anyone yodelling !
Im still searching for the Swiss yodeller.
Ive also been in Coventry Cathedral both the ruined one and the new one. It was very many years ago and ColetteB has a crucifix made from the nails of the Old Cathedral...bought on the site.
The new cathedral is fantastic..., beautifully done. My memory tells me there is a huge green hanging canvas by Graham Sutherland of the crucifixion, just behind the altar. Outside the entrance there is a magnificent sculpture of St Michael being tormented by the Devil. The stonework and the stained glass all rather excellent. I hope Im remembering all this right as it was a very long time ago.
