    it spoke of a fusion of right wing economics and left wing social conscience.

    it had been used by roosevelt and his new deal and mussolini in italy, hardly bedfellows.

    even good old macmillan subscribed to it.

    it is the job of our leaders to explain exactly what they mean to the population.
