No suprise ,Get rid of KCC & DTC ,that would be a saving in millions ,Paul Carter and a couple of his cronies are on more cash than the PM ,& dont do anything more than an ordinary Cllr does .The money that is wasted could easily open more affordable nurseries and provide better quailty in residential homes & schools for the disbabled

I don't think getting rid of KCC would save much as district councils would then demand a lot more dosh to run the Police service, Fire and Rescue, schools, highways, street lighting etc plus it would be a logistical nightmare.

I always thought the Police and Fire ran themselves with money provided by KCC, schools now seem to be heading in the same direction while highways could certainly do with a shake up.
I would rather have an effective council to local needs and do away with KCC, whether it would be better value for money will always be questionable.

With the proposed merger of Canterbury, Ashford, Shepway, Thanet and Dover into one body we would split from KCC much as Medway did and form a Unitary Authority.

Having just 1 council would be better has the money would go straight to them which would make them more accountable and lot less of passing the buck .. ..At the moment our money goes to ppl like PaulCarter who like Cherry says earns more money than the PM and is no different to any other Cllr ,we don't need ppl like him and certainly don't need parish and Town councils . If this went to the vote I think it would be unaminious, ppl are getting fed up of CT rises only to see it wasted ,Cuts seem to be the must ,so let's start in getting rid of KCC ,town & parish councils

Hardly any police patrols anymore,a service run into the ground, let alone bin collection, the s**t state of our roads etc and we have to pay more?what superb value for money our council tax is,so pleased they,ve put it up again,i always thought the price was too low.

If Paul Carter claimed zero allowances and expenses
http://www.kent.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0009/59337/councillors-allowances-and-expenses-2015-16.pdf it would just pay for the cost of one unaccompanied child migrant

KCC is looking after over 900 of them.
Just saying.

If Paul Carter cut his wage in by 3/4 ,would pay for heating to at lots of needy pensioners this winter

If 'needy' pensioners (and others) went to Oxfam and bought a warm jumper rather than expecting to wander round their house dressed as though it was the middle of summer necessitating their central heating being turned up to maximum perhaps there would not be a problem?
The bill for Gas + Electricity at 5 bedroomed Marlinspike Hall, which does not have double glazing or even cavity walls averages just over £40 a month.
My Winter Fuel Allowance covers five months payments.

Captain I wear extra jumpers and have a blanket so I keep the heating bills down.

Well Capt what alovely caring man you are ,Do you or do you not know that when you get older you tend to feel the cold & those that are on anti coagelents also do too ,many pensioners live in 1 room with just 1 bar burning for a couple of hrs a day .Really hope you never have to live that way, on the other hand maybe poetic justice will leap up & remind you of your "caring" nature ..
