John as ever gets it wrong, purposely I believe.
If you share a Chief Executive you share the costs of the post. Therefore if the salary is £100k each authority will pay £50k & make the same saving. How you work out how the compensation share works out is a side agreement.
Apply the principle to the layers of common management which are part of an agreement.
The more shared services the less staff responsibility & individual decision making for existing
senior managers, therefore the job changes.l
In John's world you don't make changes because of redundancy costs, so the same posts at expensive costs continue .
If you take John's analysis on council tax you will be equally conned. Dover's council tax is the lowest in East Kent.
Shout it from the roofs folks.
Each council is responsible for its services & council tax.
If it can buy services cheaper by sharing staff [not duplicating, triplicating , etc the same job]& reducing cost why should you pay excessive council tax increases?
In John's world his reponsilbility is to the status quo & public sector jobs you pay for.
My world works on the principle to get the best deal for you the Council Tax payer.
