Is it correct what I'm hearing that although the Kent police has had more funds from the Govt
They are able also to set there own council tax which this year its to be a rise of 14%
"my understanding is that this works out higher than DDC?
We can keep hiking up the council tax but something has to give
How can 14% be justified in todays cut backs
But also we are seeing less police on the beat rather than more

Would have thought with services getting less & less ,our CT would get less ,But no after every hike we get Cllrs getting extortionate pay rises ,doesn’t enter their 1% brain cells that we the taxpayers aren’t getting pay increases but we are bullied threatened at every turn if we can’t afford it ,

KCC members should have not received a pay increase.

I think the hike is to cover for employing more police officers but I agree 14% seems excessive if they are also getting extra Government funding.

There is no such thing as 'Government funding'. The only money the Government has is money taken from us by tax.
In the absence of a national police force (which personally I'm in favour of) it seems quite reasonable that Kent people pay for Kent Police.
You want more Police? No problem. You just pay more money.

They didn't cut taxes when they cut police officers so why should we pay more to get them back?

The total police budget is £12.3 billion.
Meanwhile £36 billion went on working-age welfare payments in London alone.
Because we have been busy subsidising unskilled wastrels?

#7 Actually we’ve been subsidising employers of minimum-wage staff, primarily supermarkets and logistics companies and the big chain pubs and restaurants as well as the undeserving poor.

#8 Actually many of them are so useless that they hardly add enough value to the company to offset the cost of their minimum wage and their employment is almost an act of charity to keep them off the streets .....................

Bob I too am in favour of a "Police England" option (pity it is not on the table), it certainly worked in Scotland (after the short term pain of consolidation and the reduction in senior officers and head office functions)

With similar products, brand recognition will result in higher sales, even if both brands are of equal quality.
