20:0882624I have been home here in Hawkinge all day and i must say i have seen the chaps that grit the roads fill our grit box up. However when 'im indoors came home & went to the box to sprinkle some on our busy dodgy stretch of road ( being the pillar of the commuunity he is) it was empty. Due mainly to people taking a buckett or 2 to grit their drives. Are grit boxes put in place for personal use?

20:1782627Oh and Bern i go my own salt for my works carpark as i tend to have the same problem with the grit box in temple ewell. I like to sprinkle some on the pathways but it always empty. I know i'm opening myself up tto a lawsuit but i'd hate to see one of our dodery oldies slipping over and spending weeks in hospital.

20:1882629No Lorna the grit boxes are not for peoples personal use they are there to be used for community as a whole, to keep the pavements and where it might be dangerous under foot for people to walk.

20:3482638i have been using my own personal supply for outside the shop
I managed to find some, but at the same time, what happens if the postie falls bottom first on your drive, does that mean that you are liable for his or her injuries?

20:4082641If postie slips and bruises his bum thighs and knees surley itt's his/hers own fault for wearing shorts.
Mind you you know it's cold when posties wear long trousers

23:1782689It's that last bit that keeps Bern posting. Welcome.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

05:0782698My brother-in-law's car got stuck on the sharp uphill bend from Laureston Place to Victoria Park tonight.
We sprinkled some cat litter under the wheels and it worked!

10:5682764After many years of difficulty with cars and people getting up the hill to the Plough and Harrow (Tilmanstone), a salt box has now been placed there.
Preparing for winter does need some forethought.

15:5683220Cats are canny - they conceal their purses and expect us to pay. Which we do.
