It is also wrong on car parking charges.
Premium car parks i.e. Stembrook, Dover, Middle St. Deal are not increasing . They are being held at current rates . We recognise the current difficulties of Town Centres.
There are some adjustments to peripheral car parks & the low rate parks remain the same.

Was going to post this as a topic myself, seems a very back understanding of council finances in the papers today, to start with uncollected council tax is always going to happen - people move away, die, go awol, don't have money to pay. It is all budgetted for an included within the calculations and there is little that can be done about a lot of it...
Been nice knowing you :)

I believe it was a mistake - or misunderstanding on the reporter's behalf.
PaulW is right (of course), I was always jumping up and down about car-parking charges, but now feel (several years later) that DDC hav been very thoughtful /
careful, on their approach this year.
There is a scheme that could be introduced that would reduce/alleviate the cost of parking to the shopper, but it needs someone to co-ordinate it - hence my continued stance on a Town Centre Manager type of person.
Dover District Council must be one of the leanest and most efficient councils in Kent.

Doesn't mean that there aren't serious issues still to be addressed.
