    The English Church was founded in Canterbury by King Ethelbert who converted to the Christian Faith through his Frankish wife Bertha, Queen of Kent through marriage.

    The queen derives her title from Henry VIII who knocked down many English churches and priories.
    Christ Church in Folkestone Road was knocked down under the queen.
    Just opposite stands the priory to Saint Mary and Saint Martin demolished under Henry VIII.
